Quasar is Keynote Speaker at the Texas Community College Technology Forum

Quasar teamed with Dennis Sever, the Vice President of Information Technology and Facilities at Midland College to present a case study of how Midland College implemented Cloud computing on their campus. The presentation was designed to inform participants attending the Texas Community College Technology Forum in Fresno, Texas on how to implement cloud computing at their own campus. The focus of the case study was how Midland College made the case for switching from a traditional IT infrastructure to the cloud, how they developed their cloud requirements, and how those requirements were refined through a pilot study. In addition, the case study covered the key factors in selecting a cloud provider and lessons learned for successful transition into a cloud infrastructure. The cloud services requested included: Private Cloud (virtualization of some 30 NetWare, Linux and Windows servers); Migration to Active Directory from e-Directory; Migration to Microsoft Exchange from GroupWise; Implementing a SharePoint system; Implementing 500+ VDI workstations; Implementing 120+ GPU workstations and Data Center redundancy.
