Cloud Implementation Case Study
Cloud Implementation Case Study
Quasar’s core team of Casey Jones, David Gaytan and James Gonzales, developed a campus-wide customized Cloud Computing solution (On-premises Infrastructure as a Service Solution). The core Quasar team is experienced in cloud computing (virtual environments) and holds Microsoft, Citrix, Checkpoint (Firewall), Cisco, NetApp, VMWare, CompTIA and Network Plus certifications. Supervision, technical oversight and project management was provided by Dr. James Peters, VP of Technology and Kirk Smith, General Manager. Any additional planning, implementation and operational support was provided by Quasar’s Network Operations Center technicians. The team performed an initial pilot study to validate network performance, connectivity, virtual environment sizing and user interfaces for Remote Desktop (RDS), Citrix VDI and Graphical Processing Units (GPUs). The pilot study led to an On-Premises IAAS solution, which is comprised of a Remote Desktop (RDS Farm) implementation, Citrix VDI implementation, and Graphical Processing Units (GPUs). Quasar developed and implemented a transition plan from the existing Midland compute environment to the new private cloud (virtual) environment. In addition to developing the production environment, Quasar completed the following transition and migration tasks: Quasar completed Sharepoint migration and upgrade from Sharepoint 2010 to 2013; Converted Novell eDirectory to Microsoft Active Directory and performed conversion of Novell Groupwise to Microsoft Exchange enterprise. Quasar provides continuous operations support by providing 24/7 Cloud monitoring of the hypervisor, cloud storage and network performance. In addition, Quasar provides certified technicians for cloud management (maintenance and issue resolution) of hypervisor, storage and network connectivity (on-site and off-site) for uptime of the operational environment. Quasar also developed the back up and Business Continuity plan for the operational environment.
